Film Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is the 5th movie in the Pirates franchise. On his latest adventure, Jack teams up with Henry, Will and Elizabeth’s son — which means it takes place around 20 years after the third film. The two meet Carina, an astronomer accused of being a witch — fun, right? — to get the Trident of Poseidon.

The movie is funny, action-packed, and interesting, all coupled with crazy effects to make the ghost pirates.

There were moments that made me cry (both sad and happy), and moments that made me jump out of my seat (literally — I’m very jumpy, okay?).

Jack Sparrow never disappoints. He took a bit of a change this film, and it was fun to watch him transform all over again. When they said we would be going back to the feel of the first film, they were dead on.

I found the cast perfect, from Henry’s good looks to the young Jack Sparrow being a dead ringer for young Johnny Depp. Really, where did they find this guy??

Even the post-credit scene was interesting, paving the way for the next film. Most of the theater had left by the point it appeared, which surprised me. Who leaves before the credits are done? Have you never seen a Pirates film?

Overall, I’m giving the movie a 9/10. It was everything I wanted it to be. Let’s just hope I don’t need to wait another 6 years before the next one!
